    I was going to treat her to brunch at Mimi’s Cafe, but then I realized everyone in Tarnation will be there and that reservations need to be made 3 years in advance.

    I’ll probably end up making her my famous rubbery pancakes and shower her with a basket full of goodies from Bath & Body Works.

    Flowers. Because she loves getting them, I love sending them, and it’s a semi-tradition that I send her flowers for just about every occasion. (And a card.)

    A card, hand-delivered. This is the first year that both my sister and I have been living elsewhere (since I moved to another state about six months ago) and we’re both going home as a surprise.

    Since I’m the only one of 3 brothers to live away, the two who live near Mom have to make those decisions. We usually buy her flowers to plant because my mom loves to work in her flower beds and she moved into a new house recently. I’ll call and maybe even send a card this year. My brothers will take her out to lunch somewhere nice on a day when everyone “in Tarnation” (loved that) isn’t out trying to impress mother.

    I can’t go home because of prom. Maybe I’ll go home anyway.

    i got my mom the family tree from hallmark, and i put in pictures of me and my sister, our dogs, and my mom and dad.

    she cried. (i gave it to her last weekend when i was home) i think that’s the first time that happened. score one for me!

    we celebrate mother’s day on a different day in europe, but i got her a 4lb box of chocolates and every album released by Fleetwood Mac.

    My mother made a special request: She wants a pizza from her favorite pizza place and a salad from Wendy’s. She’s so easy to make happy. I also bought her a card.

    A new address book, which doesn’t sound too exciting, but hers is kinda falling apart, and apple yogurt pancakes for breakfast!

    I got her a negative film scanner so she (really, I) can scan all the old negatives of family film, burn ‘em, have slideshows, etc.

    Yes, I’m sure I’ll be one the scanning in a thousand negatives…

    I’m taking her shopping for clothes. This is a HUGE concession on my part, because I rarely venture into the local shopping-mall [metrotown] more than twice a month.
