Wilco, Tennessee Theatre
A Tip of the Hat™ to Wilco, who tonight:
- Brought the rock
- Played a new song
- Played two encores (I’ve never had two encores in my life!)
- Brought the rock
- And, oh, brought the rock
Seriously, Jeff Tweedy used easily a dozen guitars during the set. I lost track, but they were all different colors. I was really, really excited to hear “Kingpin” and all of the other standard Wilco show favorites: “Heavy Metal Drummer,” “Hummingbird,” “Shot in the Arm,” etc.
However, a huge Wag of the Finger™ to the two women behind me who screamed like 12-year-old girls at a Kelly Clarkson concert (I love you, Audra) when Wilco played “I Am Trying to Break Your Heart” and “Jesus, Etc.”—pretty much the two most popular Wilco songs, so popular as to where they pretty much couldn’t go a concert without playing them, thus it was not a surprise, and thus the high-pitched shrieking just made them look like idiots.
