“Resolutions”

First, I have to ask, why all of the hate for 2008? I mean, I know we weren’t doing that well financially, but money isn’t everything. I felt like everything I read online from December 31st–January 1st was pretty much “good riddance 2008.” I had a pretty good year overall.

Did you read that article in the New York Times about how people rarely make life changes? Yeah. While I still think it’s worth shooting for something big, I thought it’d be fun to make a few smaller, quirky resolutions.

First, I’m going to develop a taste for Swiss cheese. I’ve never liked Swiss cheese, but I don’t really know why. It’s a frequent ingredient in things I like (quiche, French onion soup, French dip), so bring on Swiss cheese 09!

Next, I’m going to log my food choices and workouts. That’s the only specific goal I’m making in the way of living healthier, but I think it will have a lot of good effects.

Also, I plan to read a lot of books at Braves games this year.

Finally, I want to recycle more and donate unused things more.

I attribute a combination of the Serial Position Effect and amplified holiday stress by the constant barrage of bad news distorting normally optimistic attitudes into pessimistic. :( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_position_effect

I don’t know about everyone else, but 2008 was just a hard year for my family. Financially, healthwise and etc. I’m here, safe and okay so I’m not going to tell 2008 suck it – but I’m definitely glad it’s gone.
