The last time I was at my parents’ house I noticed a bird had built a nest in a tree in their backyard.

Bird's nest

What was interesting about this nest was that it is so close to the house and so low to the ground. Not exactly the safest place to leave your incubating children unattended.

Bird's nest

I took some photos and made a really inappropriate comment like “I can’t wait to have a delicious robin’s egg omelet.” Just kidding. Anyway, the other day my Dad sent me this photo!

Robin's eggs

And that is why they call it robin’s egg blue. I’ll let you know if I get any more news from the nest.

This is why domestic house cats decimate bird populations. :(

Great pictures! I love robin’s eggs, they’re just so pretty.

Your omelet comment reminded me of Dan at a farm/pumpkin patch last fall, there were a bunch of baby chicks and he said ‘Look Maggie, Chicken Nuggets!’ HORRIBLE! (but hilarious)

That color truly is stunning isn’t it?! I hope some baby birds have the opportunity to hatch from those lovely eggs but just in case you should tell your parents to have ingredients for quiche on hand ;) – I kid…I kid…
