There’s a good chance you’ve seen these before.
I know I had. And I’m not talking about on the internets; these have been around a long time at office parties and the like. What you’ve got here is a pretty easy candy/dessert of crackers baked in a brown sugar and butter toffee, covered with chocolate and nuts if you like (I used pecans). I remember the first time I had these: I thought they were tasty but scoffed internally at the “shortcut” of using Saltines. (What I didn’t realize of the time was the genius pairing of sweet and salty.)
So I was a little surprised but also glad when chocolate caramel crack(ers) showed up on Smitten Kitchen. No, I was pleasantly surprised. And I took it as an opportunity to be less of a food snob.
So I made these last week and brought them into the office. The circle is complete!
