Sometime over the weekend I noticed the carpet by the baseboard by the utility closet in my apartment was wet. Is wet. When I dropped off my rent check this morning, I mentioned this to my friendly apartment complex people, and they sent someone out forthwith to look into it. (Oh, come on, how often do you get to use forthwith?)
It turns out my main drain line was clogged. It was cleaned, and hopefully the carpet can dry now. In other news, I am the proud new temporary owner of a not new dehumidifier. I am a huge fan except that it is not quiet. Oh, and I will have to give it back someday. Also, I am a little concerned because I will have to sleep with my door shut, which I usually do not do, because, well, I live alone.
So that was today’s excitement in the world of Maura.

I think this story should have ended with the dehumidifer eating your neighbor’s cat. Forthwith.

My goals for today: 1. Vote 2. Send someone to do something forthwith 3. Have someone say I’m cute

Don’t forget to empty the bucket. I had to house sit for my aunt and uncle and the main water line to their house blew in the basement. My uncle sent (also forthwith) people out to their house with dehumidifiers. They didn’t tell me I would be the one to dump the buckets of water and thus they kept filling and spilling perpetuating said wetness. Sounds erotic, hein?
