I bought a car yesterday. It is a 2004 Toyota Corolla in sand. Sand, champagne, beige, what have you—it’s gold. Yeah, I never in a million years thought I would buy a gold car, either, but it is sooo pretty. It looks like and is this color, and tomorrow, when it is not dark out, I will take a picture of my actual car. You would not believe what an ordeal buying a car is (or perhaps you would), but finally it is over. Interestingly, I am having to get used to driving an automatic again. When I got off the interstate tonight I freaked out because I could not figure out how to downshift it. My dad tried to convince me an automatic is a step up.
On the advice of my twenty commentors or so, I test drove a Jetta (two, actually), but I was not feeling it at all. I have liked the look of the new Corolla for a long time, and I liked the interior and the way it drove. So there you have it.

That is my exact car, but I have a 2003. It is a wonderful, quality vehicle. I also had to get used to an auto again, since all vehicles I had before were manuals. I actually originally wanted it in a manual, but it wasn’t worth the trouble to get one. Congratulations, it is a terrific choice.

Nice. What I enjoyed about purchasing a new(er) car was that I wasn’t constantly worried about it breaking down and felt good that I wasn’t clunking around in a piece of shite. I’m really happy for you. I know how great it feels. Payments suck…

Jetta? Corolla? You all don’t know how lucky you have it. I just bought a 2004 Grand Am Coupe because i wouldn’t fit in a 4 door Grand Am or a 4 door Grand Prix… let alone a Jetta or Corolla. I mean… i like being tall… but not if it means i have to drive a coupe or SUV the rest of my life!

Toyotas are great cars, especially the Corolla. My gf has one of those and I have a 4Runner and have never been happier. Jettas are so-so, but you can’t go wrong with Toyota. Congrats!

Congrats, enjoy that new car smell! Toyotas are reliable, more bang for the buck. I love the look of VW’s but the time and money spent on maintenance kills me.

Sweet! I’ve always liked gold (champagne, sand) as a car color, it’s so much more sophisticated than boring old silver. Corollas are cute too. Congrats girl.

Congratulations on your car. Corollas are quite reliable and have great resale value. Drive it like crazy!

Congrats! I bought my ‘02 Civic brand new off the lot, very exciting. Then I traded it in for an ‘01 Lexus IS 300, also VERY exiting. I know exactly what you mean about the car buying ordeal. And I also went from stick in the Civic to automatic in the Lexus, but I’d only been driving stick two years, so it wasn’t THAT hard to get used to automatic again.
