This is the first of possibly many installments of “Audra says the darnedest things.” Scene: it is the end of church this morning, the first Sunday of Advent 2004. Audra, my eleven-year-old sister, is sitting with her song book in her lap. It is open to “O Come, All Ye Faithful / Adeste Fideles.”
Audra: I hope we sing this for the last song. Maura: We won’t. We only sing it at Christmas, and it’s a beginning of church song, not an end of church song. Audra: I like when we sing it in Spanish.
Oh Audra. You’re so good at recognizing romance languages. But, you are still the coolest, and I love you.

I like it when I sing it in Spanish too. :)
She’s too cute, your sister.

Cousins are great.
One of my cousins had just been told the story of “Bad Mousey”, which involved a baby mouse being punished by being tied up outside for the owls to eat.
We took him into a church in Cape Cod. He sees the (rather lifelike) cross, and turns to his mom and says, in his 7 year old voice: “He must have done something REALLY bad!!!”
It was awesome.

haha. little siblings are so great. i have a 10-year-old sister and a 9-year-old brother (and two others in between us). Most of my friends tell me they couldn’t imagine having siblings that little, but i can’t imagine life without them. :)
