Emma and I saw Ladder 49 today. At first, we loved it. In fact, she turned to me and said, “This is the best movie ever. I can’t wait to buy it on DVD.” (We say things are “the best [something] ever” quite a bit, though.) However, at the end, we could not cry due to our shock and disbelief. I hope (and am pretty sure) I am not ruining anything by saying that. They also do this montage of “yay for firefighters” scenes at the end, which is pure cheese.
The best part of the movie (besides Joaquin, obviously), was Jacinda. Yes, from the Real World: London! (That was my favorite Real World, by the way.) I enjoyed her performance very much, and she is very pretty. She is also playing Rebecca in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which actually makes me want to see that movie, even though they butchered the storyline from the book.

I’ll probably see this. Would a matinee be worth the price?
Favorite RW season: Seattle
Bitchslaps and teddy bears. Yay!

I only want to see that movie if it has an UNhappy ending. For example, if they rescue Joaquin’s character from the building and he gets to go home to his lovely wife and kid(s), I don’t want to see the movie.

I, like the rest of the female population in the world, would love to have Joaquin’s babies but I have no idea what he was doing in Ladder 49. The fact John Travolta is in the movie should have been enough to scare him away.

I’m not jealous of Waukeen’s looks or anything but I really don’t understand what makes him attractive. The hair-lip really gets me. I know if most men had that hair-lip, then they’d be made fun of. I also know that most men ignore Jewel’s big ole boobs because of her English smile. I think women may be going crazy.
Firefighters are real heroes! It can’t be cheese. I mean, they have no idea that they’re going to have to risk their life in a fire do they? Oh wait, that’s what they sign up for…screw them…and their sex appeal.

I LOVED THE MOVIE. I couldn’t cry either - I think I was in shock.
