“Good morning. Thank you for choosing Starbucks. This is Josh. How may I help you?”

Nice voice, I thought. I ordered. He gave me the total. I turned the corner and waited behind the car currently at the window.

The customers in front of me were a group of older people, in a large and comfortable car. Josh got them their drinks, then leaned out the window to chat with them for a minute. (Cute, I thought.)

I pulled up to pay for and receive my vanilla latte (nonfat). Josh took my check card and gave me my drink and said thank you. Then, he leaned out the window to chat with me for a minute.

Thanks, Josh. You made my day.

(Best vanilla latte ever.)

I had a similar experience once. And it was the same barista over and over again.

I like it when people are friendly. It just makes the whole experience nicer for both people and makes me smile. :)

I, too, am primarily focused on the fact that you have a drive-thru Starbucks. Ooh.

That makes me proud. It’s all about legendary service baby. (I work for Starbucks. And working drive-thru is super fun because if it’s not super busy, you can chat it up with people. And play with their animals. And harass your coworkers with the headsets you have to wear.)

Next time, try a sugar-free vanilla nonfat latte. and if you say “I would like a double tall sugar-free vanilla non-fat latte,” in exactly that order, they’ll know you’re a starbucks junkie.
