Emma and I are good tippers. She works in a restaurant, and I know too many people who do or have not to be. We over tip for good, solid service. We’re the tipping fairies; we spread tipping joy.
We used to pre-bus our tables, too, but we thought this gave us away as being “in the know” as far as restaurants go, so we haven’t done that as much recently.
Anyway, it’s the holiday season, so go out and spread some tipping joy (if the server is competent and polite and/or attractive, of course).

I am a good tipper. I have a tip calculator card thing that came with my wallet, and I usually just go up a little from what the card says, especially if the service is good. Even when service is bad, I tend to give them a break. Unless of course they were just being rude or careless, then a bad tipper I must be!

I have converted my mom. She used to hit right at the 15%. We eat out every week. She inquired about my giving closer to 20-25% tips. Since we went to the same places, her scientific mind thought of just consistently giving good tips to some places and average tips to others.
When the quality of service remained really high at the places we tipped well and became better when we switched to better tipping at the others, she was sold.

i’m not a tipping fairy, but i’m not exactly like Mr. Pink in reservoir dogs.
If the person downright sucked, I give them a bad tip… or I don’t give anything. I’ve had waiters in the Philippines who were paid about 3 dollars a day and were 100 times better than any waiter who waited on me here. What surprised me is that they didn’t expect a tip from us, even though they really deserved it.

i usually tip a lot, mostly because i tend to order the cheapest thing on the menu, and i feel bad.

I’ll admit it. I had a very attractive (hot!) waiter who flirted with me and I tipped him a super tip-fairy amount…it was equal to what I paid for my meal! Chances are, he was gay - but who really cares?

I’m not so generous about tipping. I’ll give them $2 off the bat but if they are good - $3 or more. Depends on how much my meal cost and how many times I asked her/him for shit.
