I bought Booq’s Vyper laptop sleeve not long after they came out with the XXS for 12” Powerbooks. It’s lovely and fits my computer like a glove (as advertised!). I’m pleased with the quality, although I kind of wish it had a handle. It’s meant to go inside another bag, anyway.
I bought the Canon SD400 to replace my huge, four-year-old Sony. It gives you a lot of manual controls and is basically everything I listed here. It’s dark now when I leave work, so I haven’t really gotten to play with it yet, but I’ll fix that this weekend.
Also recently, I have purchased food, gas, workout pants, and a new shower curtain liner.

I have the Booq Vyper sleeve for my 15” Powerbook. It’s great, but I agree, it needs a handle.

I ended up going with the SD400 too. I haven’t bought a case for it yet, so it hasn’t had as much use as it deserves, but I’m sure once I have a way to carry it around it will come everywhere.
