the drive

13 nov 05

IMG_0081.JPG Today my normally three-hour trip from Franklin, TN, to Knoxville, TN, took five hours. Traffic was backed up on I-40 pretty much from Crossville to where I-75 merges in (around fifty miles). And, in typical southern fashion, there is no apparent explanation for the delay.

It was as much fun as it sounds like. During most of the standstill/coasting at less than five miles an hour, Emma and I watched television she had saved on her laptop (Veronica Mars, The Colbert Report, How I Met Your Mother). Next time I make the drive, I’m bringing rations.

Ah, Franklin, TN, I miss that place. I lived there for a year after college and before I moved to Indy to get married. Although I didn’t do it frequently, I was never a big fan of the drive to Knoxville.
