In a surprising and inconceivable turn of events, I have decided to become a dog person. It will be a long process, so you will have to bear with me. Why the change?
Currently, if your dog does not jump on me or run at me or bark at me (and is not one of those annoying, tiny, yippie dogs), I will be mostly okay. Hey, that is serious progress!

You should go adopt a dog. Get one of those dogs that has been abandoned in the hurricane. You won’t be afraid of dogs after you to have control of one for awhile.

Finally, a girl who likes dogs and not cats. Well, at least you’re moving in that direction. I’ve met so many girls who owned cats, I was beginning to think it was a requirement for the gender.
I work(ed) with at least 4 girls who all own at least one cat, if not more. Outside of work, I have this one female friend who owns three cats. It’s not even funny. You want to know what else is sad, one of my coworkers found this “cat lady” action figure. You’d have to see it to believe it.
I have nothing against cats. I mean, I do think they are snobs, but I’m willing to look past that. My favorite kind are the big cats that just lounge around the house. They don’t mess with you.
But seriously though, I’m sure there is a dog out there for you. Our family has had multiple dogs throughout our life, one was a Golden Retriever and the other was a miniature collie. Both were great dogs and protective. If you can get past the training stage, they can be great companions. Good luck with your search.

My dog is super hyper when people come to visit me or when we see dogs/people on walks. I live alone with the puppy so he probably isn’t getting socialized enough. It’s good to hear of a convert coming over to our side though! Keep up the progress Maura!

Try being around new or recently born puppies. They’re harmless … and cute.
You wouldn’t want to test this new “dog person” attitude around my dogs though. Maggie growls and snarls when she’s being friendly, and Baily is a big baby who runs away from anyone she doesn’t know. My dogs are weird but cute … and take up the entire bed.

Dogs rule. =) And they definitely have a high companion factor—my two always follow me around the house and cuddle on the couch. It’s the best.

I’m sure that Dakota just smiled on the inside somehow. Can dogs do that?

Well I have to disagree. Cats are simply superior. Try waking up one morning with your cat curled up on your chest, purring. There’s a heartbreaker for you.
As much as I love my dog, and as awesome as he is, dogs are just too much work. You have to take them out several times a day, you have to play with them, and they really depend on you.
Whereas a cat, you see, poops in a box that you only have to take out when it gets smelly, and if you are too busy to play with them all day, they will forgive you and won’t get depressed.
Not to mention that when you win a cat’s love, it means so much more. I mean, my dog is the biggest whore ever. He’ll take lovin’ wherever and whenever he can get it.

I am allergic to cats. This is something I just found out this summer. While living at my boyfriend’s house. With two cats.
I’ve always been a dog person. I don’t know what it is about them, but they seem so much more cuddly than a cat. Cohen, my new puppy, is the type that always wants to huddle under the covers with me on a bed. There’s not a whole lot that’s cuter than snuggling with a puppy.
