If I wanted to watch a movie to scare myself, and I mean really scare myself, what should I rent?

The Ring was pretty damn scary. I found Gothika and 28 Days Later scary/stressful as well. I think the reason I found the Ring so scary is because everyone told me how it was soo scary. As soon as the first scene starte, I was already hiding in my seat.

One Missed Call for sure. Easily the most scary time I’ve had in front of the TV, and I’ve seen Mariah Carey’s “Glitter”. ;)

The new version of “Dawn of the Dead” really REALLY scared me, like trying to crawl under my seat scared me. I might be kind of a wuss though.
But it’s super scary.

none of those movies were really scary for me, in fact, i laughed multiple times in the new dawn of the dead. i’ve always been scared of the original exorcist though. i think it’s a combination of the music and also my friend’s house is like an exact duplicate of the house in the movie.
watch bewitched with will ferrell and nicole kidman. the horrendous acting and dialogue made me squirmish….

It depends on what scares you, but these might work. I find that the newer “horror” films are not that scary. All of these are the originals, not the remakes we’ve seen through the years.
The Exorcist Halloween The Shining The Amityville Horror
That’s all I can think of at the moment.

When A Stranger Calls did for baby sitting what Jaws did for going to the beach.

Lets go obscure:
Eyes Without A Face
Black Sunday (1960… not the Frankenheimer film)
Frankenstein Created Woman

Crossroads, Glitter, or Gigli.
You’ll be so scared that people were dumb enough to let those movies get made.

I almost forgot this link I found a while back. retroCRUSH did a list of the scariest movies.

I echo comments about “The Ring.” I saw “28 Days Later,” but found it more gory than scary.

Well, like many others, The Ring really did it for me. But you’ve probably seen it.
I can’t really think of any others right now. Hmmph.
