I don’t have a microwave. People think this is weird.
I could have a microwave. I make a couple of bucks, and they aren’t that expensive. However, they also take up prime counter real estate, and the only thing I’d use it for on a regular basis is popcorn. When I cook for myself at home I like to use the stove or the oven and avoid overly processed food.
What about reheating food, you ask. The thing is, a lot of things don’t taste very good reheated in the microwave, in my opinion. I don’t mind waiting for the oven.
Anyway, I just don’t want one. But don’t try to take away my toaster.

When I moved to the UK, it took me 6 months to even realise that my flat didn’t have a microwave - i went that long without even needing it! I guess if you’re used to cooking your own meals it’s not that essential to nuke everything. Although i suppose it could be nice for nuking leftovers…

Oops, i just noticed that you talked about re-heating in your post — that’s what i get for posting first thing in the morning!

I’ve had a microwave my entire life. For the last two months i have gone without and i never realized how much i used it for leftovers. I constantly order pizza in larger quantities then i can eat in a single sitting and to me, heating it in the oven doesn’t deliver the taste i enjoy (i think it has to do with the cheese melting). Anyway… once i get my Washer/Dryer rebate back… a mircowave is the first thing i’m getting (and a roaster over is the second… ironic). =o)

That’s kind of ironic, because the only thing that I do have is a microwave. But I only use it for popcorn. But popcorn from the stove is ALWAYS better, plus it’s probably not good to get a microwave to endorse having popcorn like all the time.

I have an extra microwave…pretty, white and clean - free of charge if you’ll just take it out of my house so that I have more room for Christmas stuff!!!

toaster ovens are a good middle ground. i actually didn’t have a microwave until earlier this evening. i didn’t realize how lazy i was until i didn’t have access to quick heating of my food. i really miss that giant chunk of counter though.

A toaster is definitely a life essential =)
You didn’t mention ramen!! I’d probably use a microwave more for ramen than for popcorn.
