I went to the gym kind of late tonight because I fell asleep during Emeril, as often happens. Food network has a pretty good early evening lineup: two episodes of 30 Minute Meals followed by an episode of Good Eats (my favorite). Next up is Unwrapped, which I rarely pay attention to because I’m usually pondering whether hosting a mediocre Food Network show is a step up or down for Marc Summers, you know, after his sweet Double Dare gig. Following is Emeril Live, and I used to like watching Emeril, and I thought it was cool that he’s from near where I’m from in Massachusetts, but, alas, he just annoys/bores me now.
When I left the gym it was good and dark, and a serious thunderstorm had started. I noticed a fire truck with its lights on behind me, so I pulled over and let it pass. I started thinking about how funny it would be if my apartment was burning down, on the day I signed a new lease no less. I also thought that renting sucks because you’re throwing away money, blah blah, renting sucks, when do I get to stop doing that? And I was thinking this as I turned into my complex, where halfway through the double speed bumps was (yes, you guessed it) the fire truck.
No, my apartment didn’t burn to ash. But with all of the crazy lightning, I guess someone thought something was on fire, because two more trucks showed up, and they all drove around for a little while then left. That didn’t stop everyone from coming out of their apartments to see that nothing was going on, though. It’s the most excitement we’ve had in a long, long time.

Good Eats is the best. I LOVE Alton. I also really like Unwrapped. But truly I watch every single one of those shows.
