One ray of sunshine

14 aug 06

Movies this summer have been disappointing overall. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was abysmal, much too long, and just disgraced the good name of the original. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby was funny enough, but Will Ferrell has done better.

Luckily for me (and you!) there’s a little gem called Little Miss Sunshine, now in limited release, with a wide release by month’s end. This movie is really, really funny, a bit sad, and charming. It’s the story of a dysfunctional family on a road trip, a beauty pageant, and winners and losers. And it’s going to make you laugh.

I loved the movie too. I watched it last week and was surprised with just how entertaining it was. Have you ever seen “Hope Floats”? The little girl totally reminds me of the girl in “Little Miss Sunshine”. I think it’s the glasses and tummy. :)
