The 90s

11 jul 06

So the plan tonight was to come home and pick out a few forgotten albums from my collection to listen to for fun. I actually figured I would have long misplaced a few of the ones I was thinking about, but, happily, I hadn’t.

Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hot You know, I remember reading that this album is actually pretty good, in addition to their one hit of “Hell.” I’ll let you know what I think.

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill While I generally don’t think women should be allowed to make music, this CD is classic. I was convinced I had long since lost this one, so I was actually pretty excited to see it.

The Verve Pipe - Villians Holy crap, leave a comment if you loved “The Freshmen.”

Haha, is this your plan to get everyone in the world to leave a comment?

I can’t be held responsible, but yeah, I loved “The Freshman.” I always confuse the Verve Pipe with the Verve, though.

I saw the SNZ at the Tennessee Theatre when they were big. I loved that album. Prince Nez was my favorite song. That concert was one of my all-time favorites.

As a fan of all things Vervey (with and without the Pipe), I did love “The Freshman”. If I recall correctly “Photograph” was a rockin’ tune too.

Oh here’s something strange… Wikipedia you rule: http://thevervepipe.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000093.html

Guilty. My dad is convinced all 90s rock sucked, but you can’t argue with that song. So I dug up my old Verve Pipe CDs too.

I also secretly love Alanis Morissette too- but that remains a well-kept secret.

I think The Freshman was a great song. IS a great song.

I like The Freshman! Remember the Mighty Mighty Bosstones?

Stacey  /  13 jul 2006  /  12:54 p.m.

All of those sound awesome! And you know I love the freshman!

dv  /  13 jul 2006  /  10:57 p.m.

totally loved The Freshmen. wasn’t it also on one of the Buffy soundtracks?

I loved ‘The Freshmen.’

And I’m still an Alanis fan. Kick-ass album.

for some reason, I’ve made whoopie (hopefully that passes the censors) more times listening to that Alanis album than any other.

I loved the Squirrel Nut Zippers. The girl sings like a flapper-girl era singer and it’s really hawt. It’s the bee’s knees!

Blah, we were only Freshmen. I like that song now, but hated it back when, I was, uh, maybe, a freshman?

Hot was a terrific album. I might have to dig that one out myself. And the show at the Italian Street Fair (was that really ten years ago?) was still one of the best shows ever.

As for women not being allowed to make music…I’ll be sure to pass the word along to FlairAndrea. :-)
