Old Navy

25 jul 06

In the past six months or so I’d say, all of my trips to Old Navy turn out to be huge disappointments, almost solely because the store is basically a barren wasteland. Their website leads you to believe they have a ton of adorable garments, but somehow this doesn’t carry over to the retail locations. Anyway, against my better judgment, I went to an Old Navy tonight, even though they almost exclusively carry ultra low rise jeans which don’t even cover half of my butt.

Turns out, Old Navy is still a barren wasteland (for me, anyway), but they do have this guy Charlie (you know, the one with the killer smile) working in the fitting room. When he led me to the second stall down he said (his voice dripping with charm), “How’s suite two?” Hahaha. Suite two. I bet he gets all the girls with that line. Later on, a woman was trying on a shirt in a couple of colors, and she asked her friend, and then Charlie, “Blue or brown?” “What color are your eyes?” Charlie asked. “Blue,” the woman said. “Then blue,” Charlie said, but added, “You shouldn’t listen to me, anyway. I’m a guy.”

Oh, Charlie. I’m sure all the little workers at Old Navy have big crushes on you.

bless Charlie!

anyway, you’re right about Old Navy. James and I went there the other day and it was awful. Nothing there. A bunch of T-shirts with a bunch of shite on them that I don’t want to display. Also, no jeans my size. Also, very few shirts I’d ever wear.

What happened to the Old Navy that could wardrobe my entire life?

I’m also disappointed with the Gap’s summer stuff. All the nice stuff is at Banana Republic, but one BR outfit could buy me a new art history book.

Two girls were doing that to a guy that was working in Hot Topic today. Except they were asking about post cards…

Dear Fashion:

I would like a casual shirt that’s not a golf shirt, I have so many. I would like a t-shirt without some inane message. I would like a button-up short sleeve shirt without some whacked-out busy design and not made of that crazy linen that always is wrinkled.

If you have any ideas where I can buy some clothes, please let me know. Right now I have the jeans, polo uniform and it’s getting tired.

oh and btw….Tommy Bahama, I bought your one good shirt…it was yet another golf shirt, but is one of my favorites…please get to work on something that won’t make me look like either a Columbian drug lord or a octogenarian snowbird.

Thanks James! And Maura! BTW, American Eagle just brought back their “favorite fit” jeans, which are a 9” rise - not low, super low, or ultra low - they hit right at or below the navel. YES! Finally!
