Do you know the way to San Jose? (BlogHer Day 0)

27 jul 06

I hate flying. I mean really, I hate it. I’m not scared, I don’t freak out—it’s just miserable. You’re in this tiny little seat for several hours, it’s sometimes bumpy and sometimes loud, and the air pressure… ugh, that’s the worst for me.

So I woke up this morning at 7.00 CDT (8.00 EDT), ate breakfast, and researched stuff for my presentation some more. (I feel like I’m prepared enough, and I can ramble on about this crap forever, but there’s this other level of preparedness I will never, ever reach.) Then I showered, packed, and Audra straightened my hair. I checked in at the Bustling Nashville Airport™ just before 11.00 AM (CDT). A hop, skip, and a jump later we were in Dallas/Fort Worth.

I had about a forty minute layover in Dallas, and the most convenient thing to eat in that short time was McDonald’s, which my stomach is hating me for now. Then came the excruciatingly long, three-hour flight to San Jose. (Thank goodness my pilot knows the way to San Jose!)

Now I’m here in my hotel room, and the shower has a bench in it. And I’m three hours off from the time zone I woke up in yesterday and the farthest west I’ve ever been. Fun.

To be continued…

I don’t mind the actual flying part of flight, but taking off and landing are pretty miserable. What are you giving a talk on?

Flying’s okay… except when there’s Snakes on a Plane!!!

Haha, snakes on a plane. Brilliant comment.

I know someone who travels because he wants to see every airport he can. Of course, he works for an airline, so he can do that, but he goes somewhere every weekend. Wild, eh?
