If you’re like me, you’re relieved at the break from endless political campaign ads. Candidate A attacking Candidate B for sixty seconds, followed by the reverse. Lather, rinse, repeat. Now we can get back to the constant barrage of automobile ads.
Recently at work, it came up in conversation that practically every other ad on television is for a car or truck. Initially I scoffed and said, “Pfft. In New England, every other ad on television is for a lawyer.” But, I’m curious. What’s it like in the west? Midwest? Canada? Zimbabwe?

It’s all cars and insurance up here in Indiana.
Did you live in New England when the Mark E Salamone commercials played all the time? My sister and I knew the commercial by heart and we’d play the parts of the two guys in it. We were just that cool.

Well, after midnight, Girls Gone Wild has multiple commercials per break. :( It makes me love commercial skipping of DVRs.

In the rural parts of the Illinois the car/truck commercials are interlaced with ads for various chemicals to grow (corn and soybeans) or kill (broad leaf or early emergence) weeds.

In Nevada: I have no idea, because I hate commercials. We generally watch national channels anyway with mostly national commercials. ;)

In Canada it’s usually commercials for American TV shows. And the American channels you get are also Canadian ones (so our ABC channel is also CBC). It’s really weird.
I live in Montreal, so we got a lot of political ads for Vermont and the Plattsburgh area of New York.

Speaking of New England, has there ever been a more endearing ad than the Dunkin Donuts “time to make the donuts” ad? Enjoyable, heart-warming, and full of saturated fat. Just like the donuts themselves.

Just your regular car, insurance and fast food commercials. It bothers me that we have Wal-Mart commercials in New York City, but we don’t have a store here. It’s such a tease. No everyday low prices for us. =0(

Don’t forget beer. I’m pretty sure that’s universal. And happy belated birthday (to the only person in all of civilization whose birthday I can remember)!

No alcohol- or tobacco-related ads in Norway. We even have a law against it!

I rarely watch tv but I know there are lots of car ads and beer ads.

In Kansas: cars, insurance and title/payday loans.
