Twenty-five

13 nov 06

When you turn twenty-five in our glorious United States and America, you can look forward to three things:

  1. Car insurance companies place a modest amount of trust in you, and thus your rates usually go down.
  2. Closely related to our first option, you can rent a car without a “you’re really young” surcharge.
  3. You are eligible to serve in the House of Representatives, provided you’ve been a citizen of our crazy country for seven years.

Having had a car accident (or a “wreck,” as we call it down here) just prior to my twenty-fifth birthday, I ruined my chances for number one. Additionally, since the repair shop had my car for over two weeks, I had to rent a car (with my insurance coverage) to get around during that time. So, so much for number two.

This leaves us with number three and the pronouncement of my run for Congress in 2008. I’ll be campaigning as an independent on the platforms of education reform and alternative fuel research. Ha! I kid. But talk to me in five years when I’m qualified for the Senate.

LOL. I wasn’t planning on running, so I only had 1 and 2 to look forward to. I’m renting my first >24 car in a few weeks on a business trip. Woot.
