Something you may not know about me (I love opening posts with that) is I live my life by the reviews of others. More specifically, when it comes to movies or music, I consult Metacritic before shelling out any money. I prefer the aggregated opinion of critics to user reviews, as I find users usually only take the time to comment if they adore something or completely abhor it. (Thus, the reviews on iTunes are worse than awful.)
Epicurious offers a fork rating as well as the percentage of reviewers who would make the recipe again. Anything under 80% gets into the iffy category for me, although I realize people’s food tastes can vary wildly. Less than three (out of four) forks? Hmm. Pass. These, of course, are user reviews, but Epicurious visitors have a slightly better grasp of vocabulary than your average iTunes user.
Interestingly enough, I don’t like Epinions very much. Usually when I go there to read up on something, the reviews skew negative, regardless, and there are about 345098345 billion categories to wade through. Pass.
I’ve received some chaffing about my religious devotion to reviews and criticism and the fact that I can probably tell you the Metacritic score for most current/upcoming movies, but I just like to think of myself as well-informed.

OMG, have you used YELP? It’s my latest obsession. Reviews of restaurants, hotels, anything.. It’s like a Citysearch, but cooler.
