Root Canal

22 nov 06

Early this week my dad emailed Emma and I to let us know that our dentist, Dr Graham, and his wife had died in a car accident this past Friday. Their funeral was held this week, I believe.

I’m rarely certain how to respond to situations like this, because while it’s awful and a tragedy when someone goes before their time, there’s not much to do when it’s someone you’re not particularly close to. It’s unfortunate for me, because Dr. Graham was a really great dentist. We called him our “hippie dentist” because he had long, blond hair and his office is decorated in vintage dentistry prints and Woodstock posters. He made regular cleanings bearable, nay, pleasant, and even cavity fillings weren’t that bad. I never, ever dreaded going to the dentist… How many medical professionals have patients who can say that?

Dr Graham, you will be missed.
