Tonight I decorated my Christmas tree. Plenty of people dream about the day when they can have their own place away from their parents, the freedom to do whatever they want, leave dishes in the sink, etc. I always dreamed about the day I could have my own Christmas tree. Besides my acute love of Christmas, I think I get this a little from my dad, who considers determining the place for the tree a part of house hunting.
Anyway, here I am with my tree, alone, and I was thinking about this article I read on CNN a few weeks ago and later talking to my mom about it. It was about what makes people happy and which people are happier. For example, Republicans are happier than Democrats and people with college degrees are happier than those without. Older men are really happy. Marrieds are happier than singles, but couples without children are happier than couples with children. Fascinating. Happier without children. I have to admit, this made an impression on me. And I’m 25 and my eggs are dying anyway.
