MacBook update

10 apr 07

Tonight I took my ailing MacBook to the Genius Bar at my Apple Store. Wait, back up. First I made an online reservation for the Genius Bar at 8:00 p.m. Now, I couldn’t imagine that the Knoxville, TN, store is that busy of a place, but it’s a good thing I made a reservation, because by the time I got there they were all booked up for the night.

I was early, and I had to wait a few, but very soon I was being helped by Chris, who has long, curly, blond hair. Chris quickly ruled out a problem with my computer itself using one of their batteries then went in the back to see if they had any new, black batteries for me.

And…they did! He put the new battery in, made sure it was working, and sent me on my way. That was it. I didn’t have to fill out a scrap of paperwork. I didn’t even know what to say at the end because it was too easy. “Have a good night!,” Chris said. “You, too,” I responded.

In related news, I’m still sickly but recovering.

i had problems with my ibook right around the new year. after that experience with calling tech support (where the guy insinuated that i was delusional, and there was nothing he could do to help me), i just started going to the genius bar. two appointments, two extremely helpful techs, and one trip to the ibook hospital, and i was good to go. nobody ever thought i was a crazy. yay genius bar!
