When I got back to the office from my piano lesson today, I opened my car door and the wind opened it the rest of the way with a force that scared me. If another car had been close, I would have left a big dent in its door.

As it turns out, this is exactly what happened to my boss Joseph this morning.

Speaking of piano, my teacher and I had a little chat about practice time, or, more specifically, my lack thereof. She’s dead on, though, and frankly, I’m surprised she hadn’t called me out on it sooner. It was just amusing because, well, I’m twenty-five. Also, after I played one of my newer memorization pieces, she said, “When you start playing a piece from memory it actually gets a little worse initially. That’s where you are right now.”

My self-esteem is so high right now.

On the drive back from the lesson I thought about my problem with practicing and how it’s not procrastination when you don’t do it at all. I have at least five hours after work every night for things like this, and I squander it. Tonight at Target I took a look through all the Franklin Covey planners (very much inspired by Lacey‘s purchase) and bought the prettiest one because it has a pink stripe (although every damn planner except for mine was on clearance!).

So now I can schedule all of my piano and couch lazing time, but we’ll see if I follow it.

When I read the paragraph about you going to Target, I thought it was an introduction about how you squander your time. (tee-hee!) Miss you!!

Ooh Piano. What are you playing on? I’ve been entertaining the idea of buying a really decent electric piano in the $1000 range. And yes… Practice, practice, practice… and then practice till your fingers and arms fall off. The funny thing is I’ll actually sit infront of the ol’ grand at my parents house for 3-4 hours when I visit. The good news is that I’ll get the grand when my rent’s retire… the badnews… where the hell am i going to put it?
