I celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by going to a Bat Mitzvah. I’ve never been to any Jewish celebration of any kind, but I’m glad to know it involves salmon, wine, and chocolate on a stick for the adults while the children are sequestered away at their own party. With karaoke and a bouncer, no less.
When I was little I always hated being relegated to things like the kids’ table. I mean, we’re all people, right? Just because I couldn’t stay up past 10:00 p.m. doesn’t mean I couldn’t hold a decent conversation…oh, yes it does. But, like most kids, I always wanted to be older than I was and frankly, I still do, a little. Even into your mid-twenties there’s so much immaturity, jealousy, and pettiness in your life, although I suppose that will never change.
As I am one of four siblings, there’s still often a “kids’ table” at some of our sit-down-meal gatherings. But it’s a lot more fun when all of the “kids” are drinking wine and eating real food and telling jokes.

I’ve seen bar/bat mitzvah parties where the kids got “better” food than the adults.

I frequent your site all the time. I just love the whitespace. Anyway, I share the same sentiment about the “kids” table. I would rather hang out in a different table despite being the ‘teenager.’
Oh, and random question… What did you use to create the latest feed for your links on the sidebar? I think it is a totally smart idea. :)
