Idol on Fox

28 mar 07

For some reason I’ve gotten into watching American Idol this season, something I promised myself I would never, never do. This is somewhat in contradiction for my unabashed love for Kelly Clarkson, although in my mind, she is the only American Idol.

Here is why I have been watching American Idol: there is NOTHING ELSE ON Tuesday nights. NOTHING. The other networks have simply given up and aren’t putting anything on halfway worthy of competing. And it’s not that hard! It’s American Idol, for goodness sakes! Dateline? A repeat of Gilmore Girls? Dancing with the Stars? Come on! Sanjaya Malakar is far more entertaining.

So far, I think it’s going to be a girl who wins this season, as the boys are mediocre at best. I’m leaning towards Jordin Sparks at this point. Your thoughts? Also, who knows, I may even vote next week!

I think we should see other people.

Personal I think Melinda is gonna take it.

There’s Veronica Mars at 9 PM (eastern) on CW, but it’s currently in hiatus.

Okay, we are totally on the same page with Tuesday night. As a matter of fact, this whole television season there’s been nothing good on Tuesday nights. It’s a big fat bummer.

However, I have gotten into Idol this year, something I also have never done before. I’m totally entertained by it. I like how some shows are short and some are long. And how it’s live, there’s something good about that.

I like Jordin Sparks the best, but it might be Melinda, it might be LaKisha. Actually out of those two, I would say Melinda. Jordin has a degree of something awesome, though, even though she might not have LaKisha and Melinda’s discipline. So I’m rooting for her. But yeah, it’s definitely one of those three.

Blake! Blake! His performance of “Time of the Season” is really what did it for me.

I’ve never seen American Idol but my parents are completely addicted to the show. It’s the cutest thing ever. :)

There’s always “House”.

Ack, I just had to give up on Idol this season… If only I stayed around to see Sanjaya’s hair… transform? I can’t even describe what that hair has done (ha, like Sanjaya’s hair is a conscious being).

My favorites: Blake, Melinda, Jordin, Gina

Most Likely to win: Jordin, Melinda, Blake, LaKisha

Melinda is the best singer on the show, but Jordin is more commercial and sell-able in the American pop music market. Also, as good as Melinda and LaKisha are, I think Jordin and Blake are a bit more versatile and more in tune with today’s pop culture.

And, cristinamarie is right: “House” is a good show. :)

Somehow I totally spaced Chris Richardson when I made that last comment. He’s among both my favorites and also those who I think have a really good chance to win. His resemblance (both physicailly and musicially) to Justin Timberlake is bound to carry him far.

I’m gonna watch the “I Love New York” finale.
