Walking allergy

11 feb 08

Allergic Contact Dermatitis I’ve long thought myself very lucky not to be one of those unfortunate souls afflicted with seasonal allergies—pollen, grass, etc. No, my allergies have to take a completely different form.

Yesterday I went for a run and because I couldn’t find my regular armband, I used a backup one I bought on super-clearance made of neoprene, not moisture-wicking cloth. Huge mistake! I’ve known I am allergic to chemicals used in the production of latex, but obviously I have the same reaction to neoprene as well. Good times.

I am skipping my workout tonight because I am a big, broken-out, congested mess. Don’t judge!

Does that mean you’re allergic to condoms?

Nice. I had a nice band-aid shaped one a few years ago. Never happened again, though… so I have no idea what I was allergic to.

I once got unreal itchy feet from putting on a pair of houseshoes I’d just bought at Wal-Mart. Had to rush to the drug store for Benadryl. OK, OK — so I kind of deserved it because I shopped at Wal-Mart. Fine. FINE! Lord, it was horrible.

Oh lord. Ouch!

I’ve been working out…regularly, even. I joined the Y!
