Tonight I was looking for photos of Shaun for his about page, and I found a few photos of myself in dressing rooms, modeling clothes I ended up leaving behind. And these two, my friends, were mistakes.
I don’t remember what I was looking for when I tried this skirt and sweater on, at Ann Taylor Loft. Probably something that needed to be fancier, like for a wedding, which may explain why I left it behind. The skirt is great (pleated!) and the sweater had some nice detailing on the hem and sleeves. This is from 2006 so these items are definitely no longer available.
Last summer I was convinced that since I was going to a New York City wedding over Labor Day, I needed a freaking awesome and sophisticated (and strapless!) dress, and thus I tried on this number at Banana Republic. I don’t think the picture actually does it justice — it’s a great length, it’s silk, and I loved the pleating. Then I realized that I would know almost no one at this wedding, thus they would have no idea what this dress was like in relation to the rest of my closet, so I saved my pennies.
This is why I don’t go shopping for clothes anymore!

Still… would you have worn that dress to anything by now if you had bought it then?

I’m pretty sure you need to go to ebay and look for that black dress. You could get a lot of mileage out of it!
